About
Jasen Samford
Music distribution consultant. Employee #2 at DistroKid for almost ten years.
Background
I joined DistroKid as its second employee and spent almost ten years there, helping build the systems that serve millions of independent artists. I worked on everything from artist support to fraud prevention to internal tooling.
That means I've seen how distributors review flagged accounts, handle takedown notices and ownership disputes, and decide when to hold or release earnings.
What I do now
Most of my work is dispute resolution for independent artists and labels: frozen or escrowed royalties, locked or terminated accounts, false DMCA takedowns, copyright and ownership claims, fraudulent duplicate uploads, and payout holds.
When a case is stuck in a support queue, it usually needs two things: the right documentation, and someone who knows where to send it. I put the case together and escalate it through my distributor contacts.
See Services for the types of cases I take on and how pricing works.
How I work
Mostly by email. It's the easiest way to collect screenshots, statements and correspondence, and it gives us a clear record of the case. If you'd rather talk things through, I'm happy to set up a video call on request.
Gatefolded
I also run Gatefolded, a public or private music sharing platform for artists, producers, and labels. It grew out of the same problems I see in consulting: music scattered across private links and link-in-bio pages, with no way to tell who actually listened.
